Some people might think that barriers only affect a few people in their daily lives. We can prove them wrong: every 3rd German citizen is at least temporarily affected and every 10th German is fully dependent on barrier-free environments. For everyone else, a barrier-free design is safe, comfortable and easy to handle.

Private housing:

Besides disability and disease, the demographic change also presented new challenges. People tend to grow older and older but the way our houses are built still does not reflect this fact. Therefore, it’s useful to know that barrier-free design can be implemented with almost no extra cost if you change your mindset and think about it to start with.

Companies, public areas and amenities:

Companies who do not make their products or services accessible for everyone are not only losing people’s trust but are also missing out on opportunities to increase sales. When it comes to public areas and amenities this really creates a problem because they are there for everyone. Whether there are legal regulations in place or not, making public places accessible for everyone can simply be broken down to basic human rights.

Who can take advantage?

  • Parents with pushchairs
  • People of very small stature or very big stature
  • Overweight people
  • People with impaired senses
  • Migrants
  • People with cognitive deficits
  • People affected by rheumatism who are not able to press small buttons
  • People with disabilities
  • …everyone who is carrying around heavy and oversized luggage
